PANCHARATRA AGAMA PATHASALA

The  SriPancharatra Agamas are Vaishnava  Agamic texts in Sanskrit, literally meaning five nights of yagna that established Lord Narayana as paramatma and Devata who can be physically worshipped. It also means merger of five knowledge systems viz. Veda,Vedanta,Purana, Sankhya and Yoga. Also there are four Siddhantas in Pancharatra -

MantraSiddhanta,AgamaSiddhanta,TantraSiddhanta,TantrantraSiddhanta.

Pancharatra texts have 4parts namely JnanaPada, YogaPada, KriyaPada and CharyaPada. The KriyaPada  gives the rules for idol worship, construction and consecretion of temples etc. The students are trained in Archana, Utsavam and prathishta procedures of Temple worship as per Pancharatra Aagamam.

SHAIVAGAMA PATHASALA

ShaivaAgamas are canonical texts that deals with the tradition that worships Lord Shiva as the supreme being. The core of Shaiva agama deals with 28 moola Agamas. These are believed to be 'anadi' or revelatory, that came down from the five faces(Sadyojata, Vamadeva, Aghora, Ishana, Tatpurusha) of Lord Shiva, just like the Vedas.

The Shaivagama texts have four parts namely JnanaPada, YogaPada, KriyaPada(Rituals) and CharyaPada(Conduct). Jnana pada of the agama deals with the doctorine of Pati(Lord), Pasu(Soul) and Paasa(Bondage). The students are trained in conduct, cleanliness of self and the temple, Nitya pooja, Archana, Aaraadhana, Utsavams and prathishta procedures of Temple worship as per ShaivAagamam.

Full time Veda Pathashalas

Sri Shankara Bhagavatpada, in his upadesha panchakam advises “VEDO NITYAM ADHEEYATHAAM TAT UDITHAM KARMA SVANUSHTEEYATAAM”-meaning ‘Study vedas everyday and follow the karmas as stated’. Vedas are the basis of Dharma(‘VEDO AKHILAM DHARMA MOOLAM’). Generations after generations, the Vedic knowledge is preserved and transferred to the next generation as this is the most sacred knowledge. Each brahmachari has to first learn the vedam of his own denomination(svashaakha).

The moolam course of any Vedam consists of three parts- Samhita, Brahmanam and Aaranyakam. A vidyarthi takes 6 years to complete moola paatham. He can then study Padam, Kramam, Jathaa and Ghanam. Each step takes 1.5 to 2years to complete. Thus a vidyarthi does 12 to 14 years of Veda Adhyayanam to become Ghanaa Paati. Since the studies of vedas are to be done fulltime, there is notime to engage in academic studies. However, each vidyarthi is taught the basics of academics on anadyayanam days and holidays to enable them to appear for SSC exams on open school system.
